THE EMPOWERED CHILD™ CURRICULUM
We know that children learn best when they’re actively engaged. We recognize that children are naturally curious. We know they learn critical science, math, reading and writing concepts through hands-on, sensory-oriented activities. Childtime’s unique The Empowered Child™ curriculum gives children the guidance — and the freedom — to construct their own body of knowledge in ways most meaningful to them.
We believe that all children are talented, capable and special, whether they enjoy music or math, whether they want to be a businessperson or a ballerina. And because we know that children learn best when they’re actively engaged, we give them lots of activities to involve them in concepts and to empower them to find the ways to learn that are right for them. Then we provide plenty of space and time to explore, along with lots of support, love and, of course, fun.
Through The Empowered Child™ curriculum, children feel valued for who they are. We help each one find his or her own special talents and expand beyond them. We introduce new concepts in ways that help children internalize knowledge, not just memorize it. Our curriculum helps children develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills they’ll need to succeed in kindergarten, school and life.
Childtime can actually offer families concrete data on how The Empowered Child™ curriculum is meeting the educational and developmental needs of the children in its program.
Results from a recent preschool assessment tool showed children attending Childtime made substantial gains in their learning and development and have the educational skills needed for a successful transition into kindergarten.
This assessment tool is being utilized at all Childtime locations across the country and will assist teachers in developing customized curriculums for each individual child. To read more about the assessment program at Childtime, please click here.
Childtime’s The Empowered Child™ curriculum, designed by early education specialists, is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early learning and is based on the work of respected child development/early education theorists Jean Piaget, Erik Erikson and Lev Vygotsky. The Empowered Child™ principles follow the guidelines for developmentally appropriate practice set forth by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
