Front desk of schoolWelcome to Childtime Alexandria! My name is Janet and I am the director. I bring 15 years of experience as a teacher and manager. I truly value the relationships I share with each family. I stress openness and honesty with families and staff. My staff and I work hard to ensure that each family feels safe and secure at our location.

Our teachers are very dedicated to our children and families. More than half of our teachers have more than five years at our school, and several have close to 10 years. Our teachers have a combined total of more than 135 years of experience. They receive monthly training and participate in ongoing outside training through local colleges and the state and county.

Our school is warm and pleasant and our teachers provide exceptional lesson plans to foster a love of learning for our children. Come visit us and see what amazing opportunities our school has to offer!

Why Us

Inside view of classroomWe have long-term, engaging, excited teachers who take every child as an individual. Because of this, the children have stability as well as love and encouragement. Our building is conveniently located with ample parking. Each age group has its own enclosed room. Every room has large windows that make them bright and sunny. Each room has at least one large window that looks into the next room or lobby. Our teachers’ joy and pride in their classrooms is demonstrated through their love of the children, commitment to the families and longevity within the center.

Our Programs

Workstations inside classroomAt Childtime, we believe children learn best when they’re actively engaged. That’s why The Empowered Child™ curriculum ― developed by our team of education experts ― gives children the guidance and freedom to construct their own body of knowledge in ways most meaningful to them.

The Empowered Child™ is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early learning and is based on the work of respected child development/early education theorists Jean Piaget, Erik Erikson and Lev Vygotsky.

Infant Program:

All infant teachers are CPR certified in CPR and first aid. Our infant teachers have been with us from one to seven years. We provide age-appropriate activities that promote language, motor, social and cognitive skills.

Beginning Steps / Exploration Station / Early Learners Program:

Our toddler teachers have been in this classroom for more than five years. The children are given so much love and positive energy. Children from ages 2 and up are offered computer classes, fitness classes and Kindermusik ABC Music & Me. A part-time program is available.

Skill Builders / Kindergarten Connection Program:

Our teachers have been at this center from four to 12 years and have more than 75 years of combined experience. Teachers take pride in their classrooms and show the joy of teaching everyday. Preschoolers are offered computer class, fitness class and Kindermusik ABC Music & Me. With the knowledge of the county’s Standards of Learning, we are able to prepare the children for their entry into the school systems. We do this by engaging them in fun, interesting activities that promote learning through play. Part-time programs are available.

School-Age Program:

During the school year, we provide homework support while also making sure that the children have a nutritious snack and outdoor time after their long school day.

We transport to the following area schools:

We only offer service for Cameron students, who will be picked up and dropped off by the county school bus.

Testimonials

My daughter transitioned from in-home day care to Childtime two years ago. She was shy at first but with the nurturing and caring staff, she has become independent, more social, and communicates well for a four year old.

The hours are very flexible as they try to accommodate everyone’s schedule. The Childtime facility has workers employed that are loving, caring people and assist all ages of the daycare children. My grandchildren have fun, seem to be happy, and are learning something new everyday.
