Junior Kindergarten

Boys in kindergarten prep class

Another step in the Childtime School Readiness Pathway is through Junior K. This is an appropriate step for “Young-5’s” – children who aren’t quite old enough to start kindergarten or those who need some extra skill building before getting into a school setting.

In Junior K, we’ll focus on academic skills like:

  • Word building and decoding
  • Reading and writing common sight words
  • Counting up and back, and by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s
  • Adding and Subtracting
  • Understanding Fractions

We’ll also help your child develop critical learning skills needed for elementary school like:

  • Setting and achieving goals
  • Taking turns
  • Managing work independently
  • Waiting and patience skills
  • Handling strong emotions
  • Following directions
  • Critical thinking (reasoning and analyzing)

During the year, families will receive learning progress and readiness reports. Children must complete Pre-Kindergarten prior to enrollment. This program has limited availability; please contact your local school to inquire about details.
