by Administrator | November 29, 2016 | Get to Know Our Staff

dianaMeet Diana Fogleman, Assistant Director at Childtime on South Harrison Rd. in Tucson. Starting at our company more than eight years ago, Diana has worked her way up from infant teacher to lead teacher to assistant director – with several other positions in between. Read on to learn more about this fabulous member of our team!

What drives you to keep pushing yourself – and your staff members – to be the best in the industry?

I’m so passionate about my work that it is my life. I eat breathe and sleep child care. I’m always trying as an individual to be at the top, and I want to help all of my teachers get to that level, too. I want my teachers to have pride. With my whole duration here, with learning from the start to being an assistant teacher to becoming lead teacher to now running a center with another director, I’m so eager to learn in the business. I love it. I love what I do.

What do you discuss with parents while giving them a tour of your center?

I constantly go over the fact that parents are involved in the school, that we have an open door policy, we have Parent/Teacher Conferences and that we cover specific developmental domains that pertain to each child’s development. There is no learning curve – everyone grows and develops at their own pace. There’s no need to rush it, there’s no need to stress it. We’re there to be the helping hand to get them where they need to be. I go over our safety policies, our cleaning procedures.  It’s so much more reassuring to a parent to know this is a safe facility. They can bring their child here and don’t have to stress because they know we are going to care for their child the way they would. And I always stress that. I love their child like I love my own.

Why is an early start to education so important?

Oh my goodness, because have you seen what normal schools are putting on these kids? Oh my gosh, as a parent I’m scared! I can only assume that these parents have the same anxiety. Kids have to be ready for school to be an active part of society. They have to grow and develop in school and keep up with the path. That’s why I feel preschools are the most important aspect of their young lives.

Do you have a favorite accomplishment since you’ve been with us?

I am proud of where I have gotten myself. And I’m most proud of the relationship that I have built with families and kids.

Why do you do it?

It’s the kids. It’s always been the kids for me. To see the growth and development of the children, right before your eyes, and when they look at you and you can tell they got it. That is exactly why I do it. At this stage in my life, there’s nothing that will take me away from it. This is my career, this is my profession and this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.
