A mobile, energetic 2-year-old enjoys the entire world as their playground. We’ve put together a unique educational approach that focuses their enthusiasm into opportunities for development, growth, and achievement. Here, 2-year-olds enjoy:
In this classroom, an energetic environment helps give these mobile 2-year-olds a foundation for later learning. Teachers provide guided care, while little ones enjoy five classroom areas for exploration and discovery.
Dance, jump, sway, and swing! Children develop the ability to coordinate and combine large muscle movements.
Explore shape, size, texture, and number through sorting and matching, creative structures, and making ramps.
Explore the world! Twos participate in sensory explorations, simple science investigations, and creative expression.
Dramatic play helps develop children’s critical-thinking skills, as well as their expressive and receptive vocabulary.
Drawing pictures, “writing” by making letter-like scribbles, re-telling stories by acting them out with their bodies and with puppets to develop more complex language and literacy skills.
Milestone development in this program for 2-year-olds continues to be guided by our Learn from the Start™ curriculum, but the learning experiences are designed to meet the specific needs of this very mobile age group. Our focus is on achievement in five developmental areas.
Increasing independence through world exploration and problem-solving abilities.
Building an understanding of the world around them, while they practice thinking critically and creatively.
Milestone: Points to pictures that represent feelings and names the emotions.
Desired Outcome: Children develop the ability to recognize, understand, and communicate different emotions.
Effective communication abilities are developing as these 2-year-olds use sounds, expressions, body language, and eventually, oral and written language while responding to and understanding others.
These 2-year-olds practice coordinating and controlling large and small muscle movements, while they build an understanding of health and safety concepts.
Active Bodies, Healthy Brains
Active Bodies, Healthy Brains
The positive impact of physical activity on children’s health—and mental development—cannot be understated. There is a strong connection between being active and growing brain power.
...regular exercise is not only vital to physical development, but also brain development...
Developing and understanding of their own emotions and their relationships with others, like family, friends, and community members, as well as understanding how to interact with others while developing self-awareness.
Our first priority is creating a secure environment where infants both are safe and feel safe. In our Infants classroom, we provide toys and materials that allow for freedom of movement within safe boundaries, so children can explore, develop motor skills, and engage their natural curiosity. This makes the classroom both nurturing and stimulating.
