How To Celebrate Earth Day With Your Child

Earth Day is April 22. Here are some fun ways to help your child understand the meaning of Earth Day and the importance of protecting our environment:

• Visit a zoo or aquarium — A great way to introduce your child to the wonders and beauty of the natural world.
• Make something out of recyclable materials — Use your imagination and items such as egg cartons, plastic bottles, bottle caps and grocery bags to make something fun and interesting like a caterpillar, a fish, a bird or an insect.
• Feed the birds — This is the time of year that birds migrate. Your child can help them on their journey by making this inexpensive bird feeder: Cover a pinecone with peanut butter and hang it outside.
