Meet Our Childtime Staff – Ms. Viannie, Lead Pre-Kindergarten Teacher

110_7597Ms. Viannie, Lead Pre-Kindergarten Teacher at our Sugar Land, TX location, has been a part of the Childtime team for almost 17 years and has been working in the field of early education for 30. Read on to learn more about Ms. Viannie and why feels an early education program is critical in today’s day and age.

Why did you decide on a career in early childhood education?

I had two of my own sons and I realized that all kids, not just my kids, needed the opportunity in early education. I started taking it a lot more seriously.

What is rewarding about teaching Pre-K??

Just seeing the kids blossom and getting them to where I want them to be.

How do you explain our curriculum to prospective families?

I tell them that we learn through play! And a lot of people say, “Well if they play all day, how do you teach them?” I say I teach them through their play. If they play with blocks, I go over and I get them to count the blocks and how many blocks they have stacked.

Why do you feel early childhood education is so important?

School districts want preschoolers knowing more by the time they’re ready for kindergarten. As far as their writing skills, their sounds and even science, they want them to be introduced to these things by the time they get to kindergarten.

What are some memorable moments you’ve had at Childtime?

When the kids first come into my classroom for the year, they cry. It’s memorable when I win them over and realize I have their trust and that they enjoy coming.

How does your center celebrate the holiday season?

We ask parents about their different nationalities. We like to add their cultural practices in with our curriculum to let them know that we want to learn about them. Not only do we celebrate their cultures, but we also learn about the background and introduce it to our kids.
