An Awesome In-Service Day

CTRecently, we had a great in-service training day for our teachers. Everyone worked hard and learned exciting new ways to inspire and educate the children in our care! This is a very special opportunity for our teachers to become students for a day.

Childtime’s educational philosophy is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. The heart of this approach is the belief that children are creative thinkers and problem-solvers. These attributes form the basis for learning journeys that are accomplished in a warm and collaborative environment, with strong relationships between teachers and children. A Reggio-inspired curriculum is based on children’s questions and emerging skills.

Our training was dedicated to two important elements related to the Reggio Emilia approach:

  • Provocations: Provocations require a teacher to engage with and observe the children and listen to what they are saying and doing to enhance their learning experiences.
  • Encouraging Self-Expression: Teachers set up and encourage plenty of opportunities and different ways for children to express themselves.

With these new skills, we look forward to enhancing every child’s classroom experience and to continue offering a quality education for all our little ones.
