Spring-Summer Menu Brings New Flavors

As the days get longer, we welcome new rhythms and warmer months. At school, we will transition into our newest Grow Fit® menu to share seasonal favorites for spring and summer.

VEGGIE-FORWARD SELECTIONS

Currently, it is estimated that only 10% of American children eat the recommended daily serving of vegetables. We are hoping to help boost those numbers with Veggie-Fueled Fridays! That means your child will get at least two vegetables during lunch at the end of each week. We want to focus on sharing recipes that provide more veggie variety to encourage new flavors (and new favorites).

Our Spring-Summer Menu will include recipes such as Creamy White Beans, Greek Baked Lima Beans, Crispy Garlic Edamame, and Gingered Carrots. We hope this effort will help your children establish a love of vegetables and encourage everyone at our schools to eat the rainbow. Recipes that have more vegetables per bite will be highlighted on our menu with this icon:

MEATLESS MONDAY

We continue to celebrate Meatless Mondays, which is now an international movement, in all our schools! Going meatless once per week is good for your health and our planet because it reduces our carbon footprint and saves precious resources such as water and fossil fuel. We’ve added black-eyed peas to our Monday menu to support this initiative, including a new Southern Black-Eyed Peas recipe.

FAN FAVORITES

Whole grains don’t have to be boring! You’ll see some new options on our Spring-Summer Menu that are sure to make the kids smile: Whole Grain Lemon Blueberry Muffins and Whole Grain Dinosaur Crackers. We're confident your children will enjoy these delicious selections at breakfast and for snack time. Some all-time favorites will be returning, too! We’re bringing back the BBQ Chicken Subs and Turkey Tacos—YUM!

Thanks for trusting us to help nourish your little ones as they continue to grow.
